The Honour Circle
The Red Cedar has always been sacred to the Coastal First Peoples. It is the life-giving tree, from which nothing is wasted. From the bark we make baskets, rope and clothing. From the wood, we construct our Big Houses and dugout canoe. Totem poles, house posts and memorial poles, tell our family histories and memorialize our love ones. Red Cedar has always been reserved for our highest honours.

The Red Cedar, like most anything starts from a seed. With time, nourishment and care it will grow strong and enduring.

The First Peoples’ Cultural Foundation was born from a seed, an idea planted deep in the rich soil… Through time, nourishment and care we have grown into a healthy young tree. We are supported by our donors and sponsors. They are our partners, they are deep in our roots. Our roots are the Foundation. We are proud to celebrate our relationships by acknowledging our partners here in the Honour Circle.

For more on the Honour Circle please contact, or call (250) 652-5952.
