ACCOMMODATIONS AT SILS
2005
ACCOMMODATIONS
We have block-booked dorm rooms at the University of Victoria,
and reservations for these rooms must be booked by April
1, 2005 to ensure your accommodation is secured. After April
1, 2005, reservations
will be made on a first-come/first-served basis.
For those who prefer to stay in a hotel or motel, please note
again that this is peak travel and tourism season, so rates are
significantly more than the University dorms, and most hotels are
approximately a 30-minute drive from the University.
To book your room, please contact the University of Victoria’s
housing office directly at housing@uvic.ca or call (250)
721-8395.
University of Victoria Student Residence
The University of Victoria campus is located in a park like setting
just twenty minutes from downtown Victoria, the capital city
of the Province of British Columbia. SILS 2005 delegates wishing
to take advantage of the great value offered at the new University
of Victoria student residences should contact the housing office
directly: http://housing.uvic.ca/

Each unit includes four single bedrooms, kitchen, living room,
two washrooms and separate shower room. They are fully furnished
and self-contained, offering the convenience of on-campus living
with added privacy.

When making your booking, please mention that you will be attending
the SILS 2005 Language Conference co-hosted by UVic and FPCF.
Victoria Hotels
There is a lack of hotel accommodation close to the University.
Most better quality hotels are close to the inner harbour. Delegates
wishing to stay in hotels rather than at the University residences
will have a thirty-minute bus ride between downtown and the University.
Budget hotels are away from the downtown core and less accessible
to the UVic bus route.
